Joel Abrahamson

Joel T. Abrahamson, PhD, is an application engineering specialist at 3M Display Materials and Systems Division. He is an expert in optically clear adhesives and a leader with 3M’s growing materials portfolio for flexible displays. While earning BS & PhD degrees in chemical engineering from the University of Kansas (KU) and MIT, respectively, Joel published many technical papers and one patent about carbon nanomaterials before a term as a postdoc in solar energy at the University of Minnesota. He now serves on the advisory board for the KU chemical engineering department. Joel began his career in the display industry with a stint in silver nanowire touch sensors at Carestream. Since joining 3M in 2016, he has focused on new materials development through collaboration with customer and supplier teams across the industry. He lives in Minneapolis, Minnesota with his spouse and two kids and appreciates the outdoors, biking, gardening, music, and home brewing.
