2023 Summer Robotics Internships with DOE
[Posted 1.20.23] Description: The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Energy Efficiency & Renewable Energy (EERE) Robotics Internship Program offers 10-week, hands-on, practical summer internships at DOE national laboratories. Why should I apply? As a participant in the EERE Robotics Internship Program, you will engage in research-level robotics activities under the guidance of a mentor who is a technical staff scientist or engineer at a federal national laboratory. You will gain a competitive edge by applying your education, talent, and skills to research and development projects focused on robotics and advanced manufacturing. You will also be able to establish connections with DOE scientists and subject matter experts that promote long-term relationships between yourself, researchers, and DOE. What will I do? : Internship activities will vary based on the assigned research project and hosting facility. You can choose the project you are most interested in for the summer! SETO applications are reviewed (and offers are made) two times per year with rolling application deadlines of January 15th and July 15th. Recommendations are due January 18th and July 18th, so make sure your recommendations have been received by then in order for your application to be considered. Self Memorial Scholarship
[Posted 1.27.23] The Madison and Lila Self Memorial Scholarship is a merit-based scholarship that recognizes outstanding seniors from the University of Kansas who will be transitioning into their first year of a master’s or doctoral degree program at KU in the fall semester. This scholarship award provides each recipient with $10,000 for their first year, with half payable to the student at the beginning of the first semester of enrollment in a graduate program (fall/$5,000), and half payable at the beginning of the second semester of enrollment (spring/$5,000). This scholarship is applied directly to the student’s tuition and fees bill. (Deadline 3.6.23)
Layfayette College - Visiting Graduate Student Scholar
[Posted 1.27.23] Seeking doctoral students in chemical engineering who have an interest in an academic career at a primarily undergraduate institution (PUI) to apply for a 10-week summer research position. Preference will be given to candidates specializing in polymers research. The program goals are to train and mentor graduate students preparing for careers at undergraduate-focused institutions to help them build the skills and experiences needed to develop, fund, and maintain an undergraduate-driven research program. The visiting graduate student would gain the first-hand experience of working in a laboratory at a PUI, which would include mentoring undergraduate students while contributing to the research aims of a recently funded NSF CAREER grant centered in the area of stimuli-responsive polymers. K-State Pollution Prevention Institute Summer Internship
[Posted 1.31.23] Seeking internship applications from students in engineering, environmental science, and other relevant physical sciences (chemistry, biology, etc.), who are in their junior level or higher, including graduate students, for a 2023 summer internship. The internships are paid ($20 per hour), 11-week summer internships. Interns will be paired with Kansas companies to research and develop projects that will prevent pollution by reducing usage of energy, water, and toxic chemicals, producing recommendations that help the environment.Deadline: Screenings began January 31, 2023, but applications will be accepted until all positions are filled.
University of Nebraska - REU
Our 10-week, intensive undergraduate research program offers students the opportunity to learn and conduct research in our state-of-the-art facilities while previewing graduate school life at a Big Ten institution. Most of our research experiences for undergraduates (REUs) are funded by the NSF, USDA, or NIFA. Students will enhance their academic resume, work closely with faculty and peers, and have fun with social and professional development activities, all while receiving numerous benefits. Students historically underrepresented in graduate education are encouraged to apply; however, due to funding restrictions, participation is limited to U.S. citizens or Permanent Residents (those holding a green card). Penn State University CE Department - REU
(Posted 2.7.23) Focused on the Integration of Biology and Materials May 30 – August 4, 2023. 10-week collaborative research experience for undergraduate students aimed at advancing the field and applications of biomolecular materials. Projects will span a variety of topics including design of biomaterials, control of living-nonliving interfaces, tissue engineering, biocatalysis, and development of processes for effective recovery of biomolecules. In addition to the research experience, students will participate in a variety of technical and social activities including seminars and facilities tours. CE Department at the University of - REU
(Posted 2.6.23) From Bench to Market: Engineering Systems for High Efficiency Separations Research Experience for Undergraduates (Separations & Commercialization REU). The program is funded by the National Science Foundation through the Research Experience for Undergraduates program and is open to U.S. citizens and permanent residents. The Separations & Commercialization REU program will offer research experiences in laboratories that are working towards the goals of improving separation efficiency and reducing separation processing costs to a diverse group of undergraduate students. Participants will interact with faculty and graduate students to plan and execute a 10-week research project. A unique component of this REU program is the commercialization assessment training (CAT) series that will prepare them to think about the potential commercialization of traditional hypothesis-driven research early in the process. Participants will have the opportunity to interact with industry leaders in the separation field through the CAT series, industrial mentorships, as well as industrial site visits locally and in Texas.

University of Kentucky Positions Open
