Biography

Kevin Loos is the Engineering and Maintenance Manager at ICL Group in its Lawrence, KS plant location. He is responsible for all plant-level business and managerial functions of engineering (process, project, and controls) and maintenance groups, in addition to energy management, innovation, and profit improvement initiatives. He started at the Lawrence plant in 1996 (as FMC) and has worked in a variety of engineering and leadership roles in the areas of engineering, maintenance, operations, process improvement, Six Sigma, energy, and quality. Additionally, he manages the engineering co-op and intern program for the Lawrence site. Prior to ICL, Kevin worked for the Department of Energy at the Rocky Flats Superfund Site in Golden, CO. Outside ICL, Kevin is passionate about community involvement, serving on advisory boards for the Lawrence Chamber of Commerce, Leadership Lawrence, Lawrence Parks & Recreation, as well as participating as a Junior Achievement instructor and youth sports coach for several years. He enjoys any opportunity to interact and talk with students about a variety of STEM topics and their passions and potential careers at the elementary, middle school, high school, and collegiate levels. Kevin earned his BS in chemical engineering from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1993 and MBA from KU in 2003, in addition to a partial Masters in environmental engineering form the Colorado School of Mines. He lives with his spouse, Eve, in Lawrence and has three boys (John, Jared, and Jake).
