Julia Espinoza Wins Second Place at Engineering Research Showcase
Graduate student Julia Espinoza, from Associate Professor Xiaoli Li's research group, earned Second Place at this year's School of Engineering Research Showcase event.
Julia Espinoza is an international and first-gen graduate student from Peru. After receiving her Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from the National University of Engineering, Lima, Peru in 2010, she joined the National Petroleum Company of Peru, where she has worked until 2018. In 2019, she earned the Fulbright-CAREC scholarship, which allows her to get trained in an Intensive English Program at the UIUC and pursue the MSc program in Petroleum Engineering at KU. She works under the guidance of Dr. Xiaoli Li in the study of asphaltene deposition in the EOR by conducting experiments for investigating the phase behavior of Oil-CO2 systems under various pressure and temperature conditions. She is currently working in the lab, operating the high-pressure, high-temperature Solid Detection System and the PVT cell.
Congratulations, Julia!
