Gang Yang Earns First Place in SPE Regional Paper Contest

Newly graduated PhD student, Dr. Gang Yang, was recently presented with First Place in the PhD Division of the 2021 Mid-Continent North America Regional Virtual Student Paper Contest held by the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE).

Dr. Yang earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees, both in Petroleum Engineering, from China University of Petroleum in 2013 and 2016 respectively. He worked on numerical simulation of polymer flooding and participated in two research projects of CNOOC (China National Offshore Oil Corporation) during my M.S. studies. As a Ph.D. student, he worked in Dr. Xiaoli (Laura) Li’s research group, and his research focused on phase behavior of the confined fluids in unconventional reservoirs.
