Zack Holland grew up in Sublette, Kansas, and attended KU from 1992-1996, earning a B.S. in petroleum engineering. He completed an MBA in 2004 through Oklahoma State University. In his career, Zack has worked for several oil and gas companies, including Anadarko Petroleum, Samson Resources, Dominion Exploration, Chesapeake Energy, and Devon Energy, all of which have exclusively onshore US assets.

In 2013, Zack and his wife Melissa made a significant life change, relocating to Denver, Colorado, to co-found Felix Energy, a private equity-backed oil and gas company. After several successful projects, Zack made a bold decision in 2018, retiring from his thriving career to focus on his philanthropic efforts. His dedication to giving back is evident in his involvement with KU and angel investing in various startup companies.

Zack’s areas of interest at KU include the School of Engineering, School of Music, and KU Athletics including Women’s Golf, Volleyball, and Soccer. He has had many strong mentors in his life, including his high school math teacher, Richard Duncan, his Sigma Alpha Epsilon chapter advisor, Terry Wilson, and his KU professor, Dr Don Green. Zack is also happy to announce that his youngest daughter, Reese, will attend KU starting in the fall of 2024!
