Research
Current focus is on:
• Interfacial phenomena at the electrode/membrane and membrane/membrane interfaces,
• Theoretical and experimental studies of spatiotemporal behavior and two-phase transport in porous electrodes and flow channels of proton exchange membrane fuel cells,
• Heat, gas and water management in proton exchange membrane fuel cells,
• Optimization of the micro-structures and phase distribution in the catalyst layers of PEM fuel cells for optimal two phase transport, durability and high performance,
• Development of stable and active catalysts for HER/HOR and MEAs for H2-Br2 fuel cells.
• Regenerative H2-Br2 fuel cells for large-scale electrical energy storage (funded by NSF and ARPA-E)
