Biography

<div class="">Dr. Shahin Negahban is an Associate Professor of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering Department at the University of Kansas (August 2016 to present). My research interests focus on Transformational Technologies for Energy Sustainability and Operational Excellence including digital fluid and rock physics integrated with deep learning to enhance numerical fluid and rock characterization, hydrogen economy, sensor technology for continuous and accurate data collection and physics based deep learning to convert the big data to information of significance to business intelligence while reducing risk and minimizing environmental impact.<br> <br>Previously, as a BP Assignee to Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) Onshore, he served as the VP Research & Development (2013-2016) and prior to that he was the VP R&D at the Petroleum Institute in the United Arab Emirates (2011-2013). <br> <br>Previously, he held the position of the EOR Strategic Advisor in ADNOC Onshore (2010-2012) and before that; he worked as the ADNOC Onshore IOR/EOR Manager (2007-2010), and the Reservoir Engineering Coordinator for North East Bab and Bu Hasa departments (2001-2006).<br> <br>Prior to serving ADNOC, he worked as a Senior Reservoir Engineer in Forties EOR Team in Aberdeen, UK for BP (1999-2001) and prior to that, he worked as a Senior Research Engineer at Amoco Research Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma, US (1987-1999) in the areas of advanced PVT and gas injection EOR (in particular CO2), SCAL and reservoir management/simulation, and pilot and full field design and implementation.<br> <br>Shahin received his BS and MS degrees from the University of Michigan in Chemical Engineering and his Ph.D. from the University of Kansas in Chemical and Petroleum Engineering.</div>
