Biography —
Fahad Syed was a Ph.D. Student in Chemical and Petroleum Engineering department majoring in Petroleum and Reservoir Engineering under the supervision of Dr. Shahin Negahban and Dr. Masoud Kalantari. His research interest is to develop a field-based, advanced numerical methodology to optimize Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) opportunities in unconventional reservoirs. Mr. Syed earned his B.Eng and M.S. from the Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Pakistan and the Petroleum Institute (Khalifa University), Abu Dhabi respectively. After completing his M.S., he worked for ADNOC Offshore for around 7 years in different research and operational disciplines as a Petroleum & Reservoir Engineer.
Mr. Syed participated in multiple R&D projects, funded by ADNOC R&D Oil and Gas Sub-Committee, as a researcher and the principle investigator. He has been honored with numerous achievement and appreciation awards by the R&D sub-committee and the local office management in the recognition of his innovative research contributions. Most importantly, part of his ground-breaking findings are being applied for the full field re-development of one of the major offshore oil producing reservoir in Abu Dhabi.
Dr. Syed completed his PhD in December 2022 and began as a lecturer for the Chemical & Petroleum Engineering department starting in January 2023.
